Crop Circles

ATP Nutrition is one of Canada’s leading plant nutrition companies. Sherpa has been involved in the creation of all of ATP’s marketing strategy, tactics and roll-out materials since ATP’s inception.

ATP focusses on “making the complex, simple.” Its goal is to help farmers understand the optimal mix and timing of micro and macronutrients for a variety of crops.

Sherpa was charged with figuring out a way to build an easy to use tool where a grower could align a crop stage with the appropriate product that should be used at each critical stage to maximize the crop’s yield. The German BBCH scale was used and it was correlated to ATP’s proprietary R3 management system.

The resulting tool is a set of two overlapping and spinning wheels that allow a grower to reveal the recommended product.

For example, if a Wheat crop is entering the “Late Boot” stage, the tool tells a grower that this corresponds with BBCH 45, R3 Reproduce and that he should be looking at the following products: 42Phi, Corpron and NRG. It also shows that the following elements are critical K, Mg, S, Cu, N & B.

A number of unique crop circles have been created (Wheat, Canola) with more on the way (Soy, Corn).

This tool has met rave reviews by agronomists and growers alike. They love its simplicity and how it can deliver critical agronomic advice in time to maximize genetic expression.

Due to the popularity of this tool, ATP has contracted Sherpa to create a smartphone app that extends this capability to iPhone, BlackBerry and Android users.
