ECU Brand Update

7/16/2012

More than 15 years ago, Sherpa was fortunate enough to start working with the Waterloo County Education Credit Union. At the time they had around 3,000 members and one location. Today they have three locations and in excess of 15,000 members.

Sherpa was involved with the creation of the logo that the WCECU currently uses. The logo continues to be very popular with members and executive staff, but it was felt that the logo needed to be refreshed. The WCECU contacted Sherpa to see if we were up to the challenge of evolving their brand.

The mission was to update the logo subtlety yet change it enough that it was obvious that is was new. We knew that there was zero desire on the client’s behalf to change building signage and waypoints.

This was accomplished through minor changes to line weight, kerning, position and scale. The significant change was to the logo colours. The 2 logo colours were changed to feature a more contemporary “cheerful” palette.

Upon selection of the updated logo design, Sherpa progressed to the selection of primary and secondary colour pallets for future communication pieces like the website and newsletters. Additionally, Sherpa was asked to redesign all of the stationery and to provide a brand guidebook.

The client and members are thrilled with the update and all appreciate the respect given to the existing logo. Sherpa’s ability to minimize the financial exposure through the brand update was also greatly appreciated.
