Achieving the number one page ranking is gold in the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) world. While there are many strategies that may earn
you the number one spot, there are 3 fundamentals that are essential to every
successful website.
1. Defined Target Audience
Define who you are speaking to and understand their needs. Once
you understand your target audience, you can write in a style that keeps them
engaged, provides them with real value, and offers the answers to their
questions about your products or services.
There are many blogs that attempt to appeal to range of
audiences that is too broad. These sites tend to be unsuccessful since no one
is truly retained or engaged by their content. You can’t please everyone, so
don’t be afraid to fill a specific niche. Over 3.5 billion people are connected to the internet – odds are, your ideal customer will come across your targeted
content.
2. Micro-Engagements
So, what if users are accessing your website, but your site
analytics tell you they’re leaving within 60 seconds? A high “bounce rate” is a
frustrating challenge, but it’s possible to keep your users’ attention longer
with minor changes. Try using micro-engagements to keep your audience engaged
throughout your content. There is no cookie-cutter set of micro-engagements
that are guaranteed to engage your visitors, though here are some options that
you can experiment with to see what works best!
Try adding:
- Relevant photos
- Examples
- Numbered or bulleted lists
- Infographics
- Calls to action (CTAs)
- Highlighted or bolded text
As you may have noticed, a couple of these tactics were used
in this article. And here you still are!
3. Current & Fresh Content
One of the biggest mistakes people make with content
creation is relying too heavily on curated content, instead of having a healthy
mix of curated and “in the moment” content. While you should rely on a bank of
curated content for those slow days, it is important to be looked at as a
thought leader in your industry and frequently introduce new ideas that
stimulate conversations.
These 3 simple improvements can do amazing things for your
website’s search rankings. If you’d like to dive deeper, check out this article
