Appearing in local searches is something businesses need to
be taking very seriously if they would like to be successful. Ranking on a
local search is no overnight job. Local Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is extremely competitive and when it comes to any
sort of SEO strategy, there is one thing to keep in mind: it changes
constantly.
While there are many different factors, here are 3 quick
tips that you can do right now to improve your local ranking.
Google My Business – Claim & Optimize
This is one of the most important things a local business
can do. Claiming a company on Google My Business is extremely simple and gives
you serious exposure if properly optimized. This is a very important for
businesses in lagging industries. For example, a self-serve/wand carwash. By
simply claiming your Google My Business page and filling out information
fields, you will appear ahead of all the others that have not done this.

Use Online Directories and Citations
These directories in online sites such as Yelp or Angie’s
List. There are many out there and it is important to fill out your business
information on them. Be sure to update these accurately and consistently across
the respective directories. Any differentiation will be penalized by Google and
can hurt your rankings.
Pursue Online Reviews
Everyone looks at reviews and they play a big role in your
business ranking. You should be actively pursing these reviews and asking your
customers to leave them. Keep it mind that you don’t have to have all 5-star
reviews. In fact, most people appreciate to see a couple negative ones to see
what the worst outcomes of dealing with your business are and how you responded
to them.
