Influencer marketing has been an actively discussed topic
for quite some time now. While influencers exist across all social platforms,
Instagram has become the most dominant social channel for influencer marketing.
There is a lot of controversy over influencer marketing in
terms of whether it generates sales or not. We strongly believe that if you’ve
identified your target market correctly and found credible influencers for your
brand, your influencer campaign will be successful.
This poses another question. Who are the right influencers
for my brand?
Here are 3 tips:
1. Find influencers who your target market follows.
Ensure these influencers have a
genuine following by looking at their engagement on their most recent posts.
For example, if the influencer has 10,000 followers but only averages 350 likes
on posts, that is a good sign that their following is of poor quality.
2. Target influencers with less than 5,000 followers.
The infographic goes into deeper
detail on this, though these influencers receive higher engagement levels and
generally have a stronger connection with their followers when compared to
larger influencers. As a bonus, using influencers with less than 5,000
followers will help stretch your budget further.
3. Research who these influencers are.
You’ve found an influencer who
your target market follows, receives strong engagement, and you’re ready to
move to the next step. Take a moment and do some research on your influencer.
Find their personal social accounts and see who they really are. Organizations
can have their image hurt if they don’t do their diligence when it comes to who
they are choosing to represent their brand.
